A Resident Return Visa (RRV) allows Australian Permanent Residents and
former citizens to maintain or regain their ability to re-enter Australia as a
permanent resident after their initial travel facility expires.
Why It’s Needed
- A permanent visa lets you live in Australia indefinitely, but its travel facility expires after 5 years.
- If you travel overseas after this period without an RRV, you may not be allowed back into Australia as a permanent resident.
Eligibility
- 5-Year Travel Facility: If you have spent at least 2 of the last 5 years in
Australia as a permanent resident. - 1-Year Travel Facility: If less than 2 years in Australia, but you can
show substantial ties (business, employment, cultural, or personal) that
benefit Australia. - 3-Month Travel Facility: May be granted if you have lived in Australia for
at least 1 day in the last 5 years.
